Design studio for all to enjoy 

Leela is Yellow Balloon’s director and the heart of the company. She has over 25 years of experience in the design industry and has seen many changes in styles, technologies and processes. During her career she constantly honed her skills and has grown with every new challenge. Leela started out as a designer and artworker, became a large-scale studio manager, and went on to found Yellow Balloon, which she successfully runs with a team of avid design enthusiasts based in London. Leela is very passionate about her work and her team.

Mark is a highly experienced, creative print specialist. He loves photography, predominantly taking inspiring photos of London scenery. He has a great eye for design, imagery and colour. Because he started his career as a printer, he knows the whole production process from start to finish. And, perhaps most importantly, he makes a mean cup of tea!

Marie has been involved with DTP since the early 80’s, which probably explains her musical tastes! She’s very passionate about photography, often starting the day off going for a walk with her camera before work. Her creative skills include Photoshop, InDesign, and more recently Word and Powerpoint. She is happy when learning new things - this, she feels helps keep her young! Proving you can teach an old dog new tricks!

Lauren is a born multi-tasker and problem-solver. She combines a cool head for numbers and figures with top artworking skills. Impassioned in advancing her knowledge of the design world, Lauren is always keen to discover the optimal way to complete each project she works on. Nowadays, she can’t pick up a magazine without scrutinising the layout and getting a feel for the paper.

Jim brings a wealth of experience, know-how and keen attention to detail to Yellow Balloon. Proficient in all things digital since the mid 1980s, Jim worked at some of London’s top agencies including Addison Corporate Marketing. Working on a number of high profile Annual Reports and other corporate documents, Jim found himself working with (for) Leela, who was the Production Director at the time. He perfected his skills as a creative artworker. Jim is the comedian of the team with his 1970s sense of humour and a laugh not unlike that of Sid James.

Vesa is a versatile print and digital production professional with over 30 years of experience under his belt. A typography specialist with in-depth knowledge of modern design software, he gets involved at the offset and guides a project through to its completion. He’s very diligent and organised, and is great to have around when there’s a production dilemma.

Jo has over two decades of experience and is used to the hectic, deadline-driven world of DTP and graphic design. Her work – whether it’s presentations, legal and financial documents, event materials or logo designs – is always top-notch, thorough and precise. She’s as happy working in Word and PowerPoint as she is in InDesign.
